Lack of pride, and sense of history, shown both by the authorities and the citizens of Mysore, is appaling. Heritage commercial & residential buildings have been destroyed and replaced by ugly characterless monstrosities in the name of modernization. The reason why these heritage structures are in a dilapidated condition is due to neglect by the concerned authorities over the years, and rampant corruption. In other countries of the world, people are proud of their heritage and work at preservation of the heritage. I guess we don't care what we bequeath to the future generations. I hope some volunteers step up to the task of saving the heritage of Mysore for posterity.
